Park Facts

Rock Cut State Park has 3,092 acres.
Distance around the lake via the Road is 4.1 miles
Distance around the lake via the shore trail is about 3.5 miles

There are two lakes in the park. Pierce Lake is the main lake at 160 acres. Olson Lake is 60 acres.

The park is open everyday, except during the handicap hunt. Check our calendar for those days.
Winter Hours: November 1 – March 31: 8:00 am  – 5:00 pm
Summer Hours: April 1 – October 31: 6:00 am – 10:00 pm

Possession and consumption of alcohol is prohibited at all times throughout the park.

Olson Lake Beach is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day noon to 7 pm. For more information to their Facebook site at

Pets are not allowed on the beach.

Swimming and wading are prohibited at Pierce Lake

Quiet pets are allowed, but must be on a leash of 10′ or less and under control at all times.  We ask that you clean up after your pet.

There is no charge to launch boats on either lake. On Pierce Lake you may use any size engine. However, a “NO Wake” ordinance is in effect for all engines over 10hp. Only boats with electric motors or carry in watercraft may be used on Olson Lake.  All watercraft must comply with State of Illinois watercraft rules and regulations.
